About
Rachel Wilman is a lesbian author centering LGBTQ+ voices in her multi-genre work.
As a young girl growing up in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, Rachel devoured books with a hunger that could only be matched by her love of make believe. She began writing her first story in elementary school on a vintage typewriter with fading ink.
Upon moving to Southern California for college, Rachel pursued a degree in Sociology and a minor in Theatre Arts. At her small university tucked in the suburbs, she studied the complexities of human society, and experienced how art encapsulates some of life’s most powerful moments. Her poem “Masquarade” was published in California Lutheran University’s Morning Glory literary magazine in 2010 (vol. 39).
For the past 12 years she has leveraged her love of words as a communication professional. By day, Rachel works at a large Southern California university where she creates compelling materials to help empower student wellbeing. In between meetings and after her daughter’s bedtime, she is working on her first novel.
Rachel lives in Los Angeles with her chatty toddler and wife of seven years. She has yet to outgrow her love of collecting rocks and shells, nor has she lost her preference for rainy days over sunny skies.
